So on January 27, 2018 I decided I wanted to “try” a 3 day water fast. But on the third day I was feeling great and decided to continue on to 7 days. I’m not going to lie and say “Oh, I’m not doing this for weight loss” like a lot of blogs I’ve read before attempting this. I was at a plateau and I needed to do something and from all the research with others who have done this type of fast. I thought Lets do this!
Let me start from the beginning, growing up I was tall (5’11), toned and in great shape. I’ve always been asked “are you a model?” or “do you play basketball?”. Which I did neither. Well, I did do a few local fashion shows during high school, but that was it.
I was unable to gain weight, I would go for lunch with friends. After lunch was finish they would look at me and joke “where did the food go” because my tummy was still flat. I would then joke “I get taller not wider”.
Fast forward a little, I then became pregnant with my first child, gained weight but all the weight came right off. Then I had my second child and all the weight came off again. I was home mostly taking care of my girls and then realizing the weight kept creeping. But it wasn’t too bad.
Within no time I went from about 130-135lbs to 180-190lbs and then it was downhill from there. I started working a desk job where I sit for most of the day in-front of a computer and that’s what made the weight keep creeping up. I was snacking a lot and eating very poorly.
In 2015 I went in to see my family doctor for a routine physical. And was told I am borderline diabetic, she told me to start exercising more and cut out the sweet etc etc….That same day I was so scared I went straight to the gym got myself a membership, then to the grocery store to stock up on healthy foods. The gym also had a deal for a personal trainer, so I remember paying $130 for 3 one hour sessions. I was now on the right path. The trainer really helps me with a lot. But I cant afford all that so I just did the machines and a few classes (Zumba was my favourite).
When I started the gym, I was at my highest weight ever 205lbs. But with the trainer and going to the gym constantly I was able to get down to 190lbs in a matter of weeks. Then about a year or so later I went back to my bad ways, starting different “diets” and ended reaching a whopping 240lbs, my highest weight ever.
Anyways, to make a already long story short lol I decided I really need to take this thing (my health) seriously. As I’ve been avoiding to go to see my doctor because I felt like I would get bad news.
So on January 1, 2018 I started my weight loss journey AGAIN. My starting weight was 237.6lbs. I Started with the Military Diet, which I’ve had success from in the past, but the weight just seems to come back. And that’s not the diets fault I just have a “thing” for junk food.
So That’s why I’ve decided to do some much needed research and try Water Fasting. And on January 27, 2018, weighing in at 234.8lbs I started to water fast.
DAY 1
- January 27 – 234.8lbs; I felt great today. Had little hunger here and there but nothing unbearable.
DAY 2
- January 28 – 231.0lbs; Woke up this morning feeling good, no hunger or headache. Thought about food few times throughout the day but nothing drastic.
DAY 3
- January 29 – 230.2lbs; Feeling light today, No bloating, No headaches. I had this metallic taste in my mouth, but my breath wasn’t smelly (I did ask my partner to make sure) lol A little before noon today my tummy started to growl. But i felt okay.
DAY 4
- January 30 – 227.2lbs; Woke up feeling really good again. The bottom of my right foot began to hurt when I got up this morning. Not sure why…That metallic taste in my mouth was gone. But now I feel mucous as if I had a cold in the back of my nose.
DAY 5
- January 31 – 225.2lbs; I started coughing up mucous this morning, but otherwise I feel great. In the evening I felt a little not myself. I don’t know how to describe it. So I went to bed early.
DAY 6
- February 1 – 222.4lbs; Woke up feeling great. I also had a really clear dream lastnight that did came through. (super weird). This afternoon I had very low energy.
DAY 7
- February 2 – 220.0lbs; Woke up feeling great. But I’ve been thinking about watermelon all day because that is what I decided I was going to eat to break my fast. I went to the supermarket and grabbed 2 small watermelon to break my fast. and at 6pm I had my first piece of watermelon and it was delicious. I decided to make some soup the next day and when I weigh myself I was down to 219.6lbs.
CONCLUSION:
I lost a total of 14.8lbs. The first 3 days are the worst but after the 2nd day for me I felt amazing. I believe the benefits to water fasting is the truth and i will definitely be doing this fast again in the future. After detoxing my body I tried to eat fried greasy food and it gave me heartburn. I love to experiment with different “diets” for myself, So I can know what works for me best. And I will be doing water fasting again. This time I will be doing a 21 day water fast. Stay tuned for that blog.

Hello Tasha, Thank you for checking out my blog. I will be keeping a journal of my 21 day water fast I will put the link to that here. I know the feeling. I haven’t always struggled with my weight but it has been a struggle for the past few years
I’ve tried so many different diets this one works best for me. Honestly. I’m not going to sit here and tell you it’s easy but it will be worth it in the end. I’ve tried many water fasting many times before as well and couldn’t even pass 1 day. But I realize the more I do it the easier it gets. I’m currently on day 8 of a 21 day fast. I wish you all the best and If you ever need any help or motivation do not hesitate to message me. I’m no expert but I can give you a little motivation. [3/14, 10:55 AM] Linda Gibson: Here is my experience with the fast. I started a pre-fast a day before the actual fast consuming fruits, water, herb teas and freshly pressed vegetable juices. I started the three day fast with the group using the liquids provided and then shifted gear to following the European Fast and decided to extend it for 8 days of fasting. I will share the outline for that fast from a book I am currently reading entitled, There is a Cure for Arthritis written by the late Paavo O. Airola noted Canadian nutritionists.
Let me say that what led me to the fast was the way that I was feeling. I was feeling diseased and literally sick. I therefore thought it was time for a cleanse. Therefore, I commenced one. Today is my second day breaking the fast and I am currently weighing 192.6 lbs. To God be the glory!!! Before the fast I was weighing between 208 lbs-210 lbs.
During the fast, or after 3 days my desire for regular food was diminished, and I continued with the liquids of water, herbal teas, freshly pressed, carrot, cucumber and orange juices. The condition of feeling sick left me, however, the pain in the pelvic/hip area still exist but the feeling of being sick and diseased in my body left me. Again I say God be praised.
[3/14, 10:59 AM] Linda Gibson: Here is the European approach I used in fasting.
One single enema – 1 qt. Upon rising
A bowl of vegetable broth 8:00am
A cup of herb tea 11:00 am
A glass of freshly pressed fruit juice-‘can be diluted half and half with water OR freshly pressed vegetable juice. 1:00 pm
Cup of herb tea 4:00 pm
Glass of freshly pressed vegetable juice 7;00 pm
Enema 9:00 pm
Drink plain warmed water when thirsty.

Thank you so much for this. I appreciate your transparency and showing your before and after and just getting right to the basics of what you did and what happened. I do have a question, did you add anything to your water? Such as lemon or lime? Or was it just plain water?
Again Thank you so much. congratulations on your success . I’ve been searching for the one thing that’s going to help me trigger what’s needed to make this journey, finally and reach my goal of losing 50 lbs. I am at my highest weight at 217 and it’s been a tough ride. I’ve tried everything and the things that work for most, don’t work for me. I had a back injury and I’m not making an excuse for the weight but that injury limits how intense I can work out and the movements that I can do. so I don’t work out. I try to walk a little bit, walking place, I can walk at a slow pace for about 2 miles. Its very tough and exhausting. I need something to cleanse and detox that I can stick with that will work and that will start the process for me. So I greatly appreciate any advice you have. I know that you’re not a doctor, but your experience has really inspired me and I thank you again for putting it out there to help those that are really struggling

OMG! I thank you so much for sharing this. I am 5’11 as well and my weight right now is 230ish and for the life of me I want to lose this weight. My face is fat and my boobs have grown out of control… and not to mention my belly is playing mind games with me. Similar to you, the stupid desk job and honey buns got hold of me, but I only have one child. I want to loose this weight soooooo bad. I’m EXTREMELY happy this worked for you and it gives me so much hope. I’m going to try this and I got my fingers crossed.
